Rainy day & a parade

Today started off pretty rainy, but by the time the parade rolled through downtown, it had stopped. So, we walked a few blocks and watched it on an empty street corner. I'm kind of glad it was a rainy day though because that probably kept a lot of people away from the parade. Which means - LESS GERMS!!! Yay!!! LOL
Reverse psychology does work....
sometimes! Of course Daddy gave me what I asked for. :p
I headed to Wal-Mart early this morning to get some groceries. Summer was just fine staying home with her daddy. I am glad she didn't give me any grief about it because you know that means whining. But, nope. She took it well and sat on the couch watching Arthur and eating her Frosted Flakes. We were almost out of those and we were completely out of her other cereal, so that is what really prompted my nearly $300 trip to the store. Well, if you count Walgreen's it was over that. I don't get to go much anymore, so I really tried to stock up on some things that we use all the time. Like antibacterial hand soap. Of course after I got home, I saw an article that said that regular hand soap kills just as much germs as the antibacterial kind. I'm glad it didn't cost anymore for the anti-bacterial part. LOL.

We have also went through Summer's toys today to get some stuff ready for a consignment sale next month. I never consign anything, but I figure if I do, it will offset some of the money I spend there. :) Plus, Summer's room is FULL OF TOYS. What else do you keep in a little girls room anyway? Yesterday she filled up her 3rd sticker chart. She got a plastic ice cream set so we can have ice cream parties. So far Daddy and I have each had one today. Yesterday we did too. Those things sure are cute, but where do you store all the pieces once you get rid of the box??? I think we need a shelf storage system in her room, but I have yet to find the kind of shelves I want. I took most of the toys she has outgrown out of the toy box today so there is a little more room in there. But, most of her toys have lots of pieces which would become a bigger mess if thrown into the toy box. I guess we will just go with the setting things around the wall system we have now.

She is asking to spend the night with my mom tonight even though she is not supposed to go until tomorrow. I think she is bored with me and Daddy. I know she has gotten her dad to suffer (for him anyway) through 3 or 4 Barneys in the past two days. I can hear him singing now. LOL. It has been nice to have him around to give me a break the past few days. He was cleaning up a car most of the week, but I think he finished yesterday. Wish he would start on my car next. I won't hold my breath though. It really isn't too bad anyways. More cluttered than dirty. But, I like to be prepared so we keep jackets and wipes and such in there just in case we need them. I hate to be unprepared. I still pack Summer's diaper bag (should I still be calling it that?) to take with us when we leave. I don't always carry it in anymore, but it is there with extra clothes, snacks, and of course hand sanitizer.

That's about it for now. She is wanting to take the rubber sleeve off of the Wii remote so I need to attend to her. Whatever happened to that Barney movie she cut on five minutes ago anyway? Oh yeah, Daddy is in charge of the remote. :)

It looks like she is feeling better right now. It is good to see that. As for storing her small toys I found clear stacking containers at the Dollar Store if you have one around you. They are great and take up less room.

Glad you guys were able to go to the parade and there weren't too many people around.

Funny just as I was reading your post the news came on and started talking about antibacterial soap :)

Hope you guys have a good weekend!

She's just so cute! I love that photo of her...she looks so happy. It's so nice she was able to see the parade!

As for storing the ice cream pieces, maybe you could buy a small plastic box with the snap on lid to store the pieces. With four young children we have lots of those little sets, and the having a place for them keeps us a little more organized. I'm glad she is enjoying holding ice cream parties with you and her dad!

Aww...she looks so happy at the parade!

I go through once a year and clean out all the toys the kids have outgrown or simply don't play with anymore.

Otherwise, we're drowning in plastic. LOL

XOXO

We have a cubicle shelving unit in my daughters room that works good.
