Counting the days....

This morning when we woke up, Clint says, "You're one day closer to having the baby."  I guess that is true, but we are anxious for her to be here.  He keeps telling me to just pop her out.  He's like lets just go to the hospital and have her.  I tell him they would just send us home.  But, then when I want her to come out, he changes his tune a little and says she's not ready yet.  It's funny.  I feel like I am growing every day...I probably am.  I got a little stretch mark on my belly button, and everyone is trying to tell me it is not a stretch mark.  But, it looks like it to me because the skin is a different texture than the skin around it.  I have been putting Mederma on it a couple of times a day.  Thank goodness I have not gotten any more any where else on my body.  I just put some Vitamen E oil on my belly a few minutes ago, and it is all shiny and slimy (I do this every night before I go to bed).  Then when I get up, I put Paulmer's lotion for stretch marks on...and also after I shower.  I guess this is working for me so far.  I hope it continues.

Summer is moving a lot every day which is normal.  She has been for a month or so, but now you can see her movements better.  Sometimes I look down at my belly and it is almost as if I can see her heartbeat because my stomach is moving up and down like what you would expect a little heartbeat to look like.  I'm not sure if that is what it is though.

The other day, Clint read her "The Cat in the Hat" by Dr. Suess out of her new book.  It was sweet.  I have been telling him he needs to read to her or sing her a song for about a week.  Anyway, we were laying in the bed the other day and he went and got the book without me saying anything.  Then he opened it up and started reading it to her.  Then a day or so later, I got up early and read her a few nursery rhymes.  I read in a magazine that it hasn't been proven that playing music for the baby has any effect on them being smarter, but the music might help to calm them after they are born.  The article also said if you read the same stories to the baby, she will have a preference for them as a child.  I thought that was neat, so that is why I wanted Clint and myself to start reading to her.

I finally have all of her clothes washed that we have so far.  I still haven't done the blankets or crib sheets yet.  But, I am slowly getting everything ready for her arrival.  I returned some duplicate things that I got at my shower and got other things that I will need.  I want to get the diaper bags ready, but I'm not really sure what exactly to put in them.  I will probably pack my bag for the hospitial soon that way if I do happen to go into labor early, it will be ready.  It is funny because they say to bring a couple of gowns to the hospital, but I don't think I have any.  I also don't have a nursing bra yet...I really need to get one of those.  They also say to pack maternity panties, but I just wear the same panties I always have, so they will have to do.  Anyways, I guess I'll go for now.  46 days and counting.........

Pics of Baby's Room and My Crochet Work

Okay, so here are some pics of the baby's room and the things I crocheted for the baby.

Also, I wanted to let everyone know that we changed the baby's name again. As of today, it is Julianna Summer. Clint said that is what it is going to be. We'll see if he changes his mind again....

My First Shower

My aunt's Sandra and Melody threw me a baby shower on Saturday. It was a lot of fun, and I got so many things...more than I expected. We had a yummy carrot cake with cream cheese icing and lots of other food. I will go ahead and list the people who came so I don't forget.

Sandra, Melody, Granny, Alex, Tyler, Selena, Willow, Teresa, Gertha, Jimmie Sue, Tisa, Cathy, Renee (3 of my aunt's friends), Lolita, Dede, and Betty

Here are some of the things I got. A rocker/glider which Clint put together yesterday minus one lock washer (which he was really upset about). A Dr. Suess book which has 13 of his books in it. It is really cool. A baby monitor, lots of blankets, towels, washcloth, 2 diaper bags, a doll rattle (so cute...just like Willow's but with blond hair), two stuffed animals, clothes, mobile, diapers, wipes, Johnny jump up, baby carrier, thermometer, nursing pads, nipple cream...and much more.

Right now it is all in my living room floor. I am trying to get organized so I'll be ready when the baby gets here. I have a feeling it will take me all week to get it put up. I am not in a big hurry though. I want to take my time so I can get it all put where I want it without being stressed out.

At the shower, we played a game where everyone tears off the amount of toilet paper they think it will take to reach around my belly. Two people tied with exactly the right amount. One of my cousins, Alex I think, and my aunt's friend Cathy. One other interesting thing that happened is a candle on the table caught the flowers on fire!!! Good thing my Aunt Melody caught it before we started opening the presents! Anyways, I have already got my Thank You cards really to put in the mail box tomorrow....YEAH!!!

Setting Up The Nursery

This past Tuesday, Clint and Amanda brought the baby's furniture in from the garage.  So, I washed the bedding set and put it on the bed.  It looks really good.  Amanda thinks the Baby Looney Tunes set is more boyish than girlish, but she liked it too.  One thing she said that made me smile was, "Maybe the next one will be a boy."  I guess she is thinking ahead!!!  I also started washing baby clothes.  I put them in the dresser today.  It was harder than I thought because I wasn't sure which drawer to put things in.  I guess it doesn't really matter and soon enough I will figure out what I am using the most.  I bought a diaper stacker and lamp that matches the bedding off of ebay earlier this week, and it came in the mail yesterday.  I was so excited to see the package when the mail lady dropped it off.  I had Clint open it right away so I could go put the things in the baby's room.  It is still weird that the baby has a "room".  I will have to take some pictures and put them on here so everyone can see....if I remember.  It seems my memory is going...I keep forgetting things.  I have lost my checkbook since last Friday...not sure where I put it.  Hopefully, it will turn up soon.....

I went to the doctor on Tuesday.  It was the first appointment I have gone to alone.  Clint had to take Amanda to the doctor at the same time, so it was okay.  It was also the fastest appointment I have had.  I think I was their last patient before lunch.  :)  So, that was really good.  I weighed 146, so that brings my weight gain to 15 pounds so far.  Now, I have to go to the doctor every 2 weeks until the last month.  Time is really flying by.  I can remember when I first found out I was pregnant, time was going by so slow.  Now, it the days are going by fast.  Only 7 weeks left until I am full term!!!

No 3D For Us

This past week we went to get a 3D ultrasound so we could get a look at Summer before she comes.  Summer wasn't cooperating, and I guess I waited too long to get the ultrasound done.  They say it is best when you are 28-32 weeks.  I was 31 weeks, and they said her head was too far down in my pelvic area so they wouldn't be able to get any good pictures.  The lady said she would have me reschedule if I were not this far along, but it is not likely that Summer will turn.  She is in position for delivery which kind of scares me.  I thought I was ready until I saw that it looks like she is ready.  Now I am getting worried that I am not ready.  I don't know.  I guess it is a mixture of emotions.  One minute I feel like I'm ready, but the next I'm not.  It is really all up to her now anyway.  Whenever she is ready it will happen and not a moment before.  Clint is ready...at least he says he is.  It is funny because we were in the car one day this week and he was rubbing my belly.  He told me that we don't need a doctor.  He said he can deliver her himself.  That was really funny to me. I was like, "What if I rip?"  He said that our friend Amy would be there to sew me up.  Anyway, I got a kick out of that.  You never know though.  He might have jinxed himself and might actually end up delivering the baby if she decides to make a quick exit....now that is scary!!!!

I really want to get the baby's room set up.  We have decided to set it up in the loft outside of Amanda's room.  I think it will work there.  The baby doesn't really need walls, right?  Hopefully, our house will sell soon, and we can move to a place where she will have a real room.  I'm sure she will be in our room for the first month or two anyway.  I started washing some baby things this week so I will be ready for her when she gets here...at least I hope.  Clint and I went to two consignment sales last week and got a lot of things for the baby.  I think I went crazy on clothes because they were so cheap.  Especially 3-6months...I don't know what I was thinking.  Baby clothes are just so cute, and when you are getting them for $.50-$2.00, they are really hard to pass up.  We got a different furniture set and took the one we had bought up to the sale and sold it.  We also got a jogging stroller/travel system.  I bought a few toys and other things....I didn't go too crazy.  Everyone keeps telling me that if I keep buying stuff there will be nothing left for anyone to get me for my showers.  But, there is plenty of stuff on the registry that I do not have and will need.  My first shower is on Saturday.  I am trying to talk Clint into going with me.......

Oops I did it again!

Okay........so I just wrote this long entry and erased the whole thing. Boy this sucks!!! Here I go again...

We are back from our cruise now, and it was great. We ate a like pigs. I had two desserts for dinner every night! So, I don't plan on getting on any scales anytime soon. I was really looking forward to getting back to Jazzercise, but on our last night we played a scavenger hunt game. The game required a member from each team to run up to the stage with the item they were looking for. I did my fair share of running which was not the best idea in the world considering I am 7 months pregnant. I pulled/strained my lower abs again like I did in Las Vegas a month ago. Only this time, it is worse. Whenever I walk, I am in pain. So, it doesn't look like I will be hitting the gym anytime soon, but I guess I will see what I feel like on Thursday before I rule it out completely. The game was fun, but we only won a key chain which we had already won a few of from other games we played. So, it was not worth it prize wise. Clint and I also participated in the Love and Marriage Game which was like the Newlywed Game Show. We went up against two other couples--one of which was married for 1 day and the other couple have been married for over 64 years. The older couple won, and they deserved it. We got 2nd place. They gave us a video of the show to keep so that was nice so we can share our experience with friends and family. Plus, we got to be like celebrities on the boat. They replayed the show the next day on all the TVs in the staterooms so everyone knew who we were. Clint loved it!!!! He felt like a movie star. We are still in Fort Lauderdale at a friend's house, and I am not sure when we will head home. Yesterday, Clint mentioned going down to Key West first, but he woke up sick today. He went back to bed, so maybe he will feel better when he gets up later (I can dream can't I?). Otherwise, he is expecting me to drive home. I'm not sure I am up for that because the radio is not working in the car and he will probably be sleeping, so I don't think I can drive for hours in silence. So, I guess we will see what he says when he gets up. I guess that is about it. The Bahamas were great. I liked the first island we went to the best--Coco Cay. It was basically just a beach, some hammocks, and a little market to buy souvenirs. Nassau was more civilized and basically just a place to shop (lots of jewelry stores). I really enjoyed my first cruise experience and am glad we got the chance to do it before we have the baby. It won't be too much longer now......Enjoy the pics!

29 weeks and counting

I went to the doctor on Tuesday, and everything looks good.  I weighed 142, so I am happy about that.  I had to take my diabetes test while I was there, so hopefully that will come back negative.  They said my iron was 11.4 and it is supposed to be between 12 & 16, but the doctor said I should be okay.  That is about all that happened.

Tomorrow Clint and I are going on a cruise to the Bahamas with 2 other couples (Wade & Amy and Jeff & Laurie).  I am soooooooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I got the okay from my doctor on Tuesday, even though the cruise line says I'm not supposed to go after 27 weeks.  But, I am still going to go get on the boat since my doctor said it was the perfect time for us to go.  I called all afternoon on Tuesday, but there were no rooms available.  Finally, we got our reservations yesterday after I called 5 times to see if they had any openings.  They did, so we get to go!!!  I was really wanting to go on a cruise last month, but Clint didn't really want to go.  After he found out our friends were going, he changed his mind.  I am glad because we have neither one been on a cruise before or to the Bahamas, so we will get to kill two birds with one stone.  Plus, it will probably be the last time we get away together for a long time. I think we will have a great time.  I am glad we have friends going with us too!

We made the reservations around noon on our way home from an appointment.  Then before we could leave, we had to get our house ready for an open house we are having on Sunday...plus I had to pack  And, we had to meet Amy at the nail salon to get a pedicure and manicure so our nails will look pretty for the trip (Clint just got a pedicure...no polish...I couldn't talk him into green and orange on his toes...LOL)  So, yesterday was a pretty hectic day.  We left Chattanooga last night around 8:00 headed for Fort Lauderdale.  We arrived at Jeff and Laurie's house today around 4:00.  Then we went to eat Italian....man this has really been the best week!!!  I feel so lucky right now.....

On the way down, I finished the baby blanket and started on a pair of booties.  I was planning on making two pairs of booties...in different colors and styles.  When I got about halfway through the first bootie, I realized I used the wrong color on the pair I was making......what a bummer.  Plus, the yarn I am using is a lot more difficult to work with than what I used on the blanket.  Oh well, I guess everything can't be perfect.  I am anxious to see how the booties turn out because the instructions are a little confusing.  Anyway, I am sure I will have pictures of it all posted next week after we get back from our trip.  I guess that is it for now......I AM GOING ON A CRUISE TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
