Miss Piggy

Summer has been quite the eater the past few days. Although she is still complaining of her belly hurting, she wants to eat. I guess it is pain, not nausea. I started her on a probiotic hoping that may ease some of her pain. Not sure it will work, but it is worth a try. Plus, I have added some fiber to her diet. Not sure it is working yet. The probiotic, Culturelle, says it starts working by regrowing the good bacteria 48 hours after you start it. She wanted to try to swallow the pill, but it didn't work and she gagged it up. I have to give her props for trying though because apparently she thought she could do it. I didn't even try to persuade her to do it, she just offered. Of course, I did tell her she would have to eat her yogurt before she could have any ravioli. Nonetheless, she ate her yogurt (which I emptied the probiotic capsule into) and here we are eating ravioli. She has also eaten a jar and a half of spaghetti today along with the rest of her chicken noodle soup from yesterday. She also had some cereal with us at breakfast this morning. Before that she had part of a piece of bread. That was the first thing she asked for this morning. Bread. I think she would've preferred a roll from Logans though because that is what she had the day before for a snack.

She just yawned, but I am pretty sure she will say she does not want to take a nap because she is not sleepy. LOL Oh well, I guess I'll go try to put her down. It could always work. Or not.

I'm so glad to hear about her eating! It really keeps them healthy.

I'm going to ask my son's doc about the probiotic. It really seems like a good idea.

It's so good to hear Summer is eating so well! Hopefully her tummy pain goes away soon though.

Hope you all had a fun day yesterday! Sounds like lots of activities a little one would enjoy!

Yay! So glad you're trying a probiotic. I do think it will help.

I don't think people realize how important it is to keep our guts healthy...but the immune system is located in the gut. So if our gut is out of whack, so is the rest of our body.

If you find she's tolerating the Culturelle, you can even get higher doses of various strains of good bacteria.

I honestly believe every parent should have their kids on probiotics.

Keep us updated and YAY for all that eating Summer is doing. :)

Hi JC. I came across this blog entry because I am the web marketing manager for Culturelle Probiotic. I'm glad to hear you've started your daughter on Culturelle and hope you have good results! Regarding the capsule, you can definitely use regular Culturelle and open it up. But I did want to let you know that we have a brand new Culturelle-For-Kids product that comes in a easy-to-use powder packet. One thing I noticed (as a parent myself) is that this powder dissolves much better in a drink or yogurt. Currently it is only available in Walgreens and Target. Hope this helps!

YAY for being a piggy!
That's great!
To try and get her to swallow the pill what we do with our kiddos is we have them take a small drink of water and then slide the pill in there mouth and then have them drink more. Maybe that could help her.
